Workshop Explores the Nexus of Biosecurity, AI, and Modern Conflict

On April 16, Vanderbilt University hosted a one-day workshop exploring the intersection of biosecurity, artificial intelligence (AI), and modern conflict. Held in conjunction with the 2025 Summit on Modern Conflict and Emerging Threats, the workshop brought together experts in biology, cybersecurity, cyber-physical systems, and AI to examine the opportunities and risks of AI-enabled biotechnology.

The event featured an anchor presentation followed by breakout sessions, where participants engaged in cross-disciplinary discussions aimed at identifying shared challenges and future research directions. A joint workshop report and a series of white papers will summarize the key findings and insights.
