Computing the Biome Team Participates in 2021 NSF Convergence Accelerator Expo

The NSF Computing the Biome team recently participated in the 2021 National Science Foundation Convergence Accelerator Expo, which was held on July 28-29, 2021. The two-day event builds upon basic research and discovery to accelerate solutions toward societal impact and provided the team the opportunity to showcase their latest solutions to a wide range of stakeholders. The Digital Biome team's work focused on protecting communities from biological threats with real-time sensing and AI.

The NSF Convergence Accelerator program, is uniquely designed to leverage a convergence approach to transition basic research and discovery into practice. Using innovation processes like human-centered design, user discovery, and team science; and integration of multidisciplinary research and cross-cutting partnerships the Convergence Accelerator is making investments to solve high impact societal challenges through use-inspired convergence research.

The Computing the Biome team demoed their solution for protecting communities from biological threats with real-time sensing and AI. A short promotional video and a nine minute demo video were each created for the Expo, and can be found below.
